Cheshire village hall could be lost forever after plea for volunteers met with silence

A village hall could be lost forever after a plea for volunteers was met with silence.

A message posted on behalf of Bunbury Village Hall on The Paper for Bunbury Facebook page on Thursday (August 19) revealed the sad news.

According to the message, a recent appeal for volunteers to run the hall near Tarporley had come up short.

The appeal said that the treasurer was leaving the village to move to the Lakes, and the rest of the committee was ‘standing down’.

The post was a last ditch attempt to save the hall, with any volunteers interested urged to get in touch.

The full post statement read: “Following the recent appeal for volunteers to run Bunbury Village Hall no one has come forward.

“With the treasurer leaving the village to move to the Lakes and the rest of the committee standing down after 35 years of service the Hall will have to close at the end of October as there will be no-one to run it after that date.

“This is a last appeal for volunteers before this valuable village facility is lost.
