Grosvenor Bridge in Chester closed off over police incident

Police have cordoned off the Grosvenor Bridge in Chester while they deal with an incident.

Traffic is backed up all around the area after the bridge was cordoned off due to concerns for the safety of a woman there with the incident being reported at around 5pm today (November 9).

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said that the incident was in relation to “a concern for the safety of a woman on the bridge”.

Stagecoach buses posted on social media to warn of delays to some of their services, saying: “Chester – due to a police Incident on Grosvenor Bridge our 16 and PR1 services may experience heavy delays sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Traffic management site Inrix reports: “Slow traffic due to police incident on A483 Grosvenor Road in both directions from A5104 Hough Green (Overleigh roundabout) to A5268 Grosvenor Street (Grosvenor Roundabout). Travel time is between 15 and 20 minutes.”
